Virtual Pit Bull Mauls Blog Visitor…
I have this great fear!
You need to know that I am only outwardly socialized. I can pass for a gentleman, even a somewhat sensitive guy. But in reality, I’m basically a human version of a pit bull.
Outwardly, I might look at you with seemingly sensitive eyes, nod my head, and smile.
Inwardly, I’m thinking to myself, “I’m going to smoke you like cheap crack!”
All of this vigor (or hostility, if you want) leads me to a dilemma concerning my blog.
Do I let my inner pit bull out, or do I keep that bad boy locked up where no one can see him?
I’ll be honest with you. I’m very interested in making a lot of money through entrepreneurial use of the Internet! I’m also very interested in communicating. And if I can marry these two impulses, I’m going to be a very happy man. (And a very rich man!
)
During the day, I realized that I really needed to solve this problem. Everything I read about blogging says essentially “be honest.”
Personal blogging is part art, part business. The art part consists in communicating in an entertaining, and hopefully honest, manner. The business of blogging consists of marketing, specifically branding and creating buzz.
If I stick too much to the art side, I risk just writing for myself. If I lean too much to the business side, I risk just writing pablum.
You know what? I’m not totally sure what to do, but I think I’ll place this bet on myself. I’m just going to be me. I hope you like what’s to come! I hope you’re not too sensitive!
